Our History

Our decision to expand beyond traditional IT services and diversify into various industries was driven by a desire to meet the evolving needs of its clients. As businesses increasingly rely on technology to improve operations, Mlabs saw the opportunity to offer more than just IT solutions.

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Suleiman Bin Mahmud RMAF (Rtd)

Non-Independent Non-Executive Director/Chairman

General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Suleiman joined the Federation Military College in January 1965 and was commissioned into the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) on 5 August 1965. After completing basic flying training at the RMAF Flying Training School in Alor Setar in August 1966, he qualified as a helicopter instructor in 1967 in the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he piloted helicopters, fixed-wing transport, and fighter aircraft, commanded the Sikorsky S-61 Helicopter Squadron and Dart Herald Transport Squadron, and flew aircraft including the C-130H Hercules, Aermacchi MB-339, F-5E, and CN-235-220. He served as Director of Armed Forces Development Plans at the Malaysia Armed Forces Headquarters, was Base Commander of RMAF Base Butterworth, Commander of the RMAF Air Training Command, and Brigadier General commanding No. 1 Air Division (Air Defence and Fighter Command). ​

He also held the position of Brigadier General Staff (Operations) at Air Force Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, was promoted to Major General in June 1994 and appointed Chief of Staff Operations and later Chief of Staff Policy and Plans. He became Deputy Chief of Air Force with promotion to Lieutenant General RMAF in June 2000 and was promoted to General RMAF, being appointed Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force on 11 June 2001, before retiring on 4 June 2003 at the age of 56.​

Tan Sik Eek

Executive Director

Mr. Tan Sik Eek has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance advisory and private equity investments; he was a former partner at a private equity firm specializing in growth funding and pre-IPO capital, with a focus on securing funding from North American global opportunity funds for companies listed on regional capital markets; since 2013, he has served as a Director for several public companies, providing management strategy, operational oversight, fundraising, and business development planning.​

Tan Sik Eek

Mejar Dato’ Ismail Bin Ahmad (R)

He served in the Malaysian Army for 17 years, attending various local and international courses and holding multiple positions, joined Perwira Niaga Malaysia (Pernama) in 1983, a wholly-owned subsidiary of LTAT, a wholesale and international trading company. He last served as Deputy General Manager before leaving in 1999 and is currently with Tegap Dinamik Sdn. Bhd. and other companies involved in projects, construction, and infrastructure.​

Ong Tee Kein

Mr. Ong Tee Kein, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, was appointed to the Board on 13 January 2010 as an Independent Director, redesignated as Executive Director on 15 April 2010, and further redesignated as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on 31 December 2019; he has extensive experience in accounting and corporate restructuring.​

Ong Tee Kein

Professor Emeritus Dr. Sureswaran Ramadass

Independent Non-Executive Director

He is currently a Professor at Malaysia University of Science and Technology and serves as Chief Scientist at CrystalViewHD Sdn. Bhd., a Next Generation Internet Communications R&D company. Dr. Ramadass is also the Chair of the APACv6 Council and the IPv6 Forum Malaysia.​

He began his career in 1990 at MODCOMP, Inc. in Florida, focusing on R&D for real-time systems with clients such as NASA. In 1991, he joined ICON Business Systems, Inc. as a Senior Consultant and was later promoted to Vice President of Engineering. He joined USM in 1992 as a lecturer and became the founding Director and Professor at the National Advanced IPv6 Centre. At USM, he collaborated with companies like Telekom Malaysia Berhad, IBM, and MIMOS Berhad.​

He has held various positions in global organizations, including Chair of the ITU-MUST IPv6 and IoT Centre of Expertise, Steering Committee Member and IPv6 Domain Head for MYREN (Malaysian Research and Education Network), and Emeritus Chair of the IPv6 Forum Education Programme. He was nominated for Director of ICANN in 2000 and has published over 200 research papers and contributed to books on multimedia conferencing.​

Professor Emeritus Dr. Sureswaran Ramadass

Chuah Hoon Hong

Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr Chuah began his career at an audit firm in Kuala Lumpur, managing audit assignments and providing advisory and consultancy services, including IPO exercises, financial due diligence, and forensic accounting. He later joined a Singapore-based consulting firm, focusing on fundraising, mergers & acquisitions, and restructuring for public-listed and private companies.With over 17 years of extensive experience in financial advisory and consultancy, he brings wealth of expertise to his role. Currently, he is a Director at CNP Group and Silver Ocean Consulting Group, specialising in pre- and post-IPO exercises, compliances, and mergers & acquisitions for local and international financial markets.​

Chuah Hoon Hong

Karina Binti Idris Ahmad Shah

Independent Non-Executive Director

Ms Karina began her career in 1994 as Federal Counsel at the Attorney General’s Chambers, managing procurement contracts for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. In 1996, she joined private practice with Abu Talib Shahrom & Zahari before being seconded to PLUS Bhd to manage its legal department. In 2000, she joined the Kuok Group’s commercial property arm in Johor Bahru, and in 2007, she established the legal unit for the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA). There, she coordinated meetings with the Prime Minister’s office and government stakeholders, including joint Malaysia-Singapore ministerial meetings.​

In 2011, she worked in Doha, Qatar, on a Ministry of Interior project with a Malaysian construction firm. Upon returning to Malaysia, she joined Zico Insource as a Legal Consultant, advising major organisations like Time dotcom, Genting Bhd, Maxis Bhd, and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd.​
